In a call with members of the press yesterday, Senator Kerry and former Senator Wirth highlighted the importance of an agreement between the United States and China that focuses on high-impact areas of common interest such as efficiency, renewable energy, and the newly accessible shale gas reserves.  An agreement between the U.S. and China would “set the tone” for international climate negotiations and help drive a good outcome from the Conference of Parties meeting in Copenhagen this December.  According to Senator Kerry, “the crucial question is: Can we together forge a partnership that’s capable of acting boldly enough to prevent a climate catastrophe?”
