This week National Public Radio launched a dynamic 10-part series looking at next-generation energy transmission and the smart grid: “Power Hungry: Reinventing the U.S. Electric Grid.”

The series spotlights some of the benefits of developing our renewable energy potential as well as some of the regional, financial and political challenges involved with moving that electricity from where it is abundant to where it is needed.

Energy Future Coalition’s Reid Detchon is quoted in the third installment covering the challenges of interstate siting of transmission lines.

The series also touches on the development of smarter distribution and end-use technologies.

Check out the entire series on NPR’s website.
