The Energy Future Coalition, in cooperation with the Iowa Environmental Council, ITC Holdings, Wind on the Wires, the American Wind Energy Association, and Fresh Energy, is hosting an expert forum on the critical role of transmission in enabling the integration of remote renewable energy resources such as wind and solar to promote regional economic development and achieve environmental goals.

The event will feature invited guests Senator Tom Harkin and Roya Stanley, Director of the Iowa Office of Energy Independence.

Leading national and regional experts on renewable energy and transmission will discuss key issues planning, cost allocation, and siting, as well as the roles for local, state, regional, and federal actors. Major initiatives – cost allocation proposals from the various Regional Transmission Organizations, energy legislation pending before the U.S. Congress, and federal regulators considering new rules relating to transmission planning and cost allocation – provide a timely and urgent context for this forum.

Participants include representatives from a broad range of organizations such as electric utilities, environmental interest groups, elected officials, businesses, and labor unions. Please join this diverse and unique forum on how to plan, pay for, and build essential infrastructure for America’s emerging clean energy economy.

The event will be held at the

Des Moines Public Library
1000 Grand Avenue
Des Moines, Iowa

The event is free of charge, but space is limited. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Please RSVP to Jeff Stein, jeff@dgardiner.com.
